1byone invited me to review their Portable Stereo Turntable. I like this Portable Stereo Turntable. I wanted to love it but there are some things that prevent me from doing so. I received my Portable Stereo Turntable with some defects. There was a screw loose on the suitcase, that was easy enough to fix. The main issue is that turntable casing was not fully attached to the suitcase. When you put a record on it the audio would skip because the turntable casing was wobbling. I debated on whether or not to repair this myself and opted to do so. It was a very easy repair but who wants to repair something new?
The next issue I had was with the arm (looks like whammy bar) was stuck in the up position. This prevented the needle from being able to touch the record. I felt like I was going to break the arm to get it in the down position. I did successfully move it down but I will never move it again as I’m sure I will break it with continued use.
Now that I’d resolved these three issues I was finally able to play my records. I’d picked up some vintage records at my local thrift store so that I could test this record player. All records with varying degrees of wear and tear. I was pretty impressed with the sound quality. Of course, the more damaged a record was the more interference you’d here. I honestly felt like this added to the immersion of listening to old records.
The speaker quality is average. It’s not a Bose or Sony quality speaker. There’s not a lot of range or bass but it plays well enough to provide an enjoyable experience. If you turn the audio all the way up you will notice flatness of the audio more. It plays back best at medium volume.
For the current price of $76.99, I’d like to see better quality plastics as well as better overall quality control. Had I paid for this I would have expected a replacement or refund. While I was finally able to enjoy the experience of listening to audio with this Portable Stereo Turntable, it took too much effort on my part to do so. After my repairs, this is a solid record player. I’m really enjoying using it and I will continue using it.
