Every Christmas my grandmother aka “Nana” used to make a dessert. I haven’t the faintest idea what it was called or how it was made. When making Miablo’s birthday cake this year I noticed that the icing was very similar to part of the dessert my grandmother made.
Last week for my MONOPOLY Unleashed House Party I decided I was going to try to reinvent my grandmother’s dessert strictly from what I recall tasting as a young child. It turns out that taste make a lasting memory. I believe I’ve come very close to recreating her dish but I still don’t have a name.
2 pie crusts
1 bucket of Coolwhip
1 pack of Philadelphia cream cheese
1 cup of sugar
2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 dash of vanilla
1 cup of Kroger Deli’s cranberry relish
Mix Coolwhip, cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla. Fill pie crusts. Top with cranberry relish.
Does anyone know if this dessert has a name? I’m not certain that my grandmother used pie crusts or even if it had a crust. To be honest I can only recall the cranberry relish and Coolwhip filling. It must be a seasonal dish because she only made it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s also possible that I’ve missed an ingredient or two but the taste mirrors that of my memory. I may vaguely recall her throwing marshmallows in it from time to time but I could be mistaken on that as it’s but a faint memory.
If you know what this dessert is called leave me a comment. I may have to look around the office for a prize for the person who accurately links me to the recipe I’ve described. Thanks for your help!
